THE COLLEGE:
The college is recognized by Government of Karnataka and is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Bangalore, Karnataka. The courses offered in this institute are recognized by the Central Council of Indian Medicine, New Delhi.




HISTORY & MILE STONES :
Admired by the way when his wife was diagnosed and treated by an Ayurvedic physician, when all other medical systems failed, late Shri Basappanna Mallappanna Kankanawadi, a retired police officer and a great philanthropist, in the year 1933 established this institute by donating all his retirement earnings of Rs.50,000/- with the intention and vision ‘to revive propagate and develop AYURVEDA’ the Indigenous mother medical system of world.

MILESTONES:
  1. 1933 – Karnataka Ayurved Vidyapeetha Society Established Shri.B.M.Kankanawadi Ayurved Mahavidyalaya at Lingaraj College campus.
  2. 1938 – College & Hospital Shifted to Its own building at Khasbhag Belgaum.
  3. 1964 – College Shifted to Shahapur (existing building, Inaugurated by the then – Chief minister of Karnataka Late Sri S. NIJALINGAPPA).
  4. 1990 – The Institute was taken over by KLE Society, Belgaum.
  5. 2005 – Hospital Shifted to New Building in College campus at Shahapur, Belgaum.
  6. 2008 – Construction of Library & PG block.
VISION:
To build a center of global excellence in Ayurveda education by preserving, propagating and developing the Indian systems of medicine through quality teaching, training and research.


MISSION:
Tapping the hidden potentials of the young minds by inculcating unconventional techniques backed up with a relentless efforts and persuasions. The college aims at transforming the world of Ayurveda through quality education, selfless service, profitless motto, so that the commitment to excellence is achieved.


OBJECTIVES: 
  1. To develop service mindedness 
  2. Creating a sense of pride to the profession that he/she is wedded to. 
  3. To propagate and profess Ayurveda as the best system of medicine globally. 
  4. To create awareness that Ayurveda is the hassle free system of health care. 
  5. To encourage innovation and promote research activities. 
  6. To adopt and experiment a new mode that brings in revolutionary change in Ayurveda. 
  7. To find a cure for the incurable in the tradition of Ayurveda. 
  8. To explore the magical formulate of folklore medicine.
